Homemade Vanilla Syrup

My Vanilla Syrup Recipe

3 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
3 tablespoons corn syrup
2 cups water
about 1 vanilla bean or 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract, or to taste

Place the white sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla bean (if you are using one) and water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium, cover pan, and simmer 8 minutes. Stir in vanilla extract (if you are using it). Then pour into sterilized glass jars, cover, and process in a water bath canner for 10-20 minutes (depending on the size of jar). The let cool completely.

  1. For a caramel taste....Just before serving this syrup mix in 1/3 quart jar of condensed milk to 2/3 jar of vanilla syrup.
